Ace Cunneely

Ace Cunneely

Description : Ace, our beloved Bubba dog, went to the Rainbow Bridge on 29 August 2005. He was born in September 1991 (est) and was adopted by our family at the Delaware SPCA on 2 May 1992.

Ace was loved by everyone and had an empathy for our human sufferings, he would know when we were in pain or suffering and he would stay by us when we needed him. He had beautiful, soulful eyes that saw right into our human souls, but he loved us deeply and completely, accepting all of our human imperfections. He knew all of our secrets and kept them safe. He never stopped entertaining us and making us smile. He had an especial love for Pez candy, I could never eat it it without sharing it with him. He hid socks in his earlier years and shredded paper to let us know when he was upset with us. He made us laugh, even when he was naughty.

Above all, Ace was a survivor - he knew to live each day fully and enjoy life. He loved food, especially chicken, and he would beg for it whenever I cooked it. At one point in his life he was such a fat little guy that we called hin Bubba-Chubs, and thought he would need a roller skate under his fat tummy to get around. He survived an attack by another dog when he was just a puppy, and then a diagnosis of penile cancer, which went into complete remission after a year. He lived with the Chronic Kidney Failure which ultimately claimed his life, for three years. Until his last few weeks he still enjoyed eating and being with us.

He never hurt another living creature - until he broke our hearts by leaving us.

Rest in Peace, our beloved Ace. You had started your journey and were ready to go, we only helped you to go on your way. Now you will live on in our hearts and in our memories of you. Thank you for all the joy you gave us over our years together.
