Reesie Jacobs

Description : Reesie was our beloved Chocolate Dobie. When she was just a puppy, she was hit by a car, and her hind right leg was severed. Dr. Jay Middendorf saved her life and her leg. She was a survivor. She enjoyed life, and loved our family.

As the years past, Reesie began to have severe arthritis at a a very young age. It started to affect all of her legs. But she still had a very enjoyable life. Reesie could bend her head like a swan. She had such a long beautiful neck. She used to love to play the "heiney game". She would run past us, and we would grab her bottom and tell her we were going to get her heiney. She loved that.

Reesie had her own recliner in the living room. And she would sleep there every night. We had to put her blankie just right, or she wou;dn't get in and would sit and look at you until you fixed all the wrinkles out.

Reesie went to heaven on November 30th, 2006. She could no longer get comfortable on her blankie in her chair. She no longer wanted food. We took her to see Dr. Jay Middendorf on November 29th. He told us to try a new medication and see if it worked. However, she continued to worsen during the night. The next day, we called Dr. Middendorf back. Her leg was extremely swollen, Reesie wouldn't eat or drink, and she couldn't sit, stand, or lay for more than a few minutes. She just continued to lay and move, and whine to us, like she was pleading for help and relief.

We took her to Dr. Middendorf, and he suggested that it was time to say goodbye to our irreplaceable friend. Reesie had been there through terrible times, and happy times, always smiling and lending an ear and a shoulder to cry on. We took her into the exam room, and stayed with her while she peacefully fell asleep. It was so very peaceful. We will miss you, but we understand it was time for you to go to heaven. And we will meet again one day across the Rainbow Bridge. We love you more than words can say Peecies.... Goodbye dear friend for now...
