Marco

Description : Mother's Day 1995, Mike gave me a boxer puppy with a big red bow around his neck while I was watching Morgan's T-Ball game. Now, almost eleven years later, as I attend one of Morgan's last High School baseball games, Marco is no longer with us. When we brought Marco home from the ballpark that day, we let him out the back door to familiarize himself with the back yard. He immediately ran to the rope hanging from the tree house and played "tug" with it, swinging from side to side. He continued to do this even up to his last days. He was "mama's baby" and "mama's pretty boy" as I would often say and he would show his love and confidence in me by sitting in my lap. This he would do whether I was sitting on the floor, riding in the boat, or he would attempt to sit on my leg while I sat in a chair. He knew each of us by name as we played "Hide and Go Seek" in the house, finding Hollie or Morgan and even me. He knew who's room was who's. Every morning, he would greet us with a yoodle or two and go to his pillow and wait for his two treats. When he would go outside, he would stay in the yard do to underground fencing (this was turned off years ago), he would observe all the walkers and passer-bys of the neighborhood never to go after them but bark as to warn them he was "King" of this hill. On occasion, he would wander out of the yard but not so far as not to hear my whistle and always come running to the back yard to enter through his pet door, as this was his necessary entry! I will miss the days coming home and seeing him in the yard as he too would see my car. He would run towards it, coming up from behind the car to the drivers door and follow as I drove into the garage. We would always have quite a conversation when I got out of the car!
Marco endured a neurological disorder from the base of his base spine that affected his back left leg for many years. Then, ever so quickly, it spread to his front leg causing him considerable pain and loss of use. This too may have been complicated by the cancer that was later diagnosed. Now we are left with a saddness....a pain in our hearts. But, we have so many wonderful memories and thank you for letting me share some of them with you. Scherry
