Roni Smith

Roni Smith

Description : Roni was the beloved German Shepherd of Farlon & Rebecca Smith. Roni was born on April 25, 1996. She was a German breed of German Shepherd. Her actual given name was Veronica vom Smith. We shortened it to Roni for training purposes. Her pain started coming on in October 2004. We tried so many drugs to ease the pain and finally I said that it was enough. I had to let her go. God knows I did not want to but I could not be selfish. She was put to rest Thursday January 27th @ 1:30 p.m. at home on her bed.
I would like to tell you a little bit about Roni. When we got Roni she was 10 weeks old and such a sweet puppy. She developed hip dysphasia at around 8 months and required 2 hip surgeries. She was fine after that.

Roni was always so full of life she loved everybody she came in contact with. She was obsessed with water. when you turned on the water hose she became so excited wanting to play in the water. She also had her own swimming pool, which she loved to splash in. She loved for people to splash water at her while you were in the pool. She was always around for all our summer parties. She loved to get people's food when they turned their head. I would tell them there is plenty of food go get more.

Roni also had some neighborhood doggie friends. They were Stef's 4 dogs. If you asked Roni where her friends were she would run to the door and look down the street, trying to find them.

She also had a thing for balls. Her Dad would get so mad because he could not shoot basketball or hit golf balls because she would attack the balls or run off with them.

I never had a dog like Roni that was so smart and beautiful, intelligent and aware of what you were doing or saying. She always knew what you were saying or going to her or telling her. She also loved to go to Gatlinburg. If you said the word bye-bye she would not let you forget until you took her somewhere.

She loved playing ball and catching sticks when you would throw them. She always liked to be chased around the yard as well. But, she was my shadow. She would lay in bed with me no matter what until I was ready to get up.

Roni always loved Christmas. I spoiled her so much. She loved opening up presents.. Sometimes she would help you open yours. She even had her own monogrammed mattress. She slept right next to my bed on her bed every night of her life except when Dad as out of town and then she took his place. When it came to my Roni, cost was never an issue not matter what. She loved to play with the outside kitty's. But she loved to aggravate the inside kitty's Honz and Kato. She did not want them anywhere around me.

Her favorite place to lounge with us was in the living room. That's right she got her pick of the leather furniture. Anytime we watched a movie she had to have some popcorn for her. Every night she had to have her treats and snacks in bed with her Mom. She was definitely spoiled rotten. I only hope that she is not in any pain now. I hope she knows how much her Mom and Dad miss her. I feel like I have an empty space in my heart. I love you soooooooo much Roni and I will always miss you and I will never forget you. I don't know if I will ever get over you. You will always be in my heart.

Love Mom
