We got Sophie, me and my husband, for a Christmas present for each other, on our fifth Christmas together. The month before I had a terrible miscarriage at four months pregnant and me and my husband thought having a puppy to love would help us. We got Sophie at 3 months old and from the beginning she was an exceptional puppy and learned very quickly all the do’s and don’ts. Everyone we know was worried about her turning vicious being of the American Bulldog breed, but she was the sweetest, the kindest and the best dog I ever had in my life! In the past five years I and my husband have suffered a lot of loss, from our parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles and friends and other family members who have passed on, and Sophie has always been our comfort and our best friend. She has been there for all the kids, they love her to death and she in exchange has been a loving companion to all of them, and us too! She has been my protector, my best buddy, next to my husband, she has always protected our yard and always watch for our cats, she would go out at night and look for them and round them all up and bring them in for the night just like a sheep dog, I always that was the cutest thing!! Our cats would cuddle with her and so do the grandchildren, they would lay on her, hit her with toys and she would just take it in stride like a mommy dog watching over her babies.
