Lucy

Lucy

I took Lucy from a tenant of my brother who saved her from the street but was called away in a family emergency out of the country. He left Lucy at his apartment outside, but never bothered to make arrangements to feed or water her nor did he inform my brother of her presence. She stayed there despite the fact she wasn't cared for and I saw her for the first time playing with an empty plastic ice cream tub nosing it around like a ball. I smiled and wondered about her situation. Later when I entered my brothers property to pick up something, is when Lucy came out of the patio to greet me. She jumped on my so happily, i think because there was no one taking care of her so I had been the first human to come in and she took the opportunity to find some companionship. After petting her and seeing her smiling face I had to ask about her. I asked my brother to contact his tenant and ask what he was planning to do with the dog and it was verified he didn't want her, but only wanted to keep her safe from the street. I asked if I can take her and he immediately said yes, yes take her. From that day I took her to the vet, got her shots had her checked out and got her spayed a few months after. Since then she has been in my family and has been our traveling companion since. She went with us in camping trips and we traveled all over Texas. I have always told others that Lucy has more vacation mileage on her paws than the average pup. She loved to retrieve but not give back the ball, she loved snacks she used a pillow to place her head on to sleep. Lucy was so easy going and rode in many types of transportation. She road in a truck, a UTV, a scooter she even rode down a sand dune on a sand disc. she has been to Texas State Parks such as Monahans Sandhills, Goliad, Mustang Island, Lockhart, Lake Corpus Christi, Pedernales Falls and Ins Lake to name a few. Lucy will be so remembered and we will be sad for a while. Good bye my beautiful pup, thank you for your funny antics, your companionship and for being just Lucy. We love you forever, rest in peace, my Lucy.
